One of the greatest gifts my dad ever gave me wasn't just financial support; it was his confidence in me.
When I left my position at Head Start before their tuition assistance program could help cover my education, my dad stepped in and helped me finish my bachelor's degree. He often told me that he hadn't been able to help pay for college when I was younger, and this was his opportunity to invest in my future. That act of generosity wasn't simply about paying for classes.
It was his way of saying, "I believe in you." Those words, and that belief, have stayed with me throughout every degree I've earned since.

Today, when I encourage educators to continue learning, pursue new opportunities, or believe in possibilities they may not yet see for themselves, I'm carrying forward one of the greatest lessons my dad ever taught me. Because of my dad's encouragement, I never stopped learning. Each degree opened doors I never imagined possible. He reminded me that education isn't just about earning a diploma. It's about creating opportunities, believing in yourself, and continuing to grow throughout your life.
